Research Technician (Agronomy)

General Description
Plan and execute experiments that assess the value of new potential active ingredients, identify new uses for or activities of current products, and improve the performance of current products.
Specific Job Description
The candidate will assist senior scientists in the discovery and development and of new plant growth regulators and finding new uses for existing plant growth regulators. The candidate should have experience growing plants in a variety of formats, including sterile conditions. This position further requires use of and electronic laboratory notebook and the Microsoft Office software suite, knowledge of basic chemistry and microbiology, excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. The applicant must have excellent organizational skills, be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
Principal Responsibilities


  • Assist in finding new uses for existing growth regulators.

  • Assist in developing methods to assess effects of new and existing growth regulators.

  • Assist in developing methods for discovering new plant growth regulating microbials.

  • Assist in screening of plant growth regulators and microbials.

  • Growth and maintenance of different plant species for growth chamber and greenhouse assays.

  • Production of uniform plants for growth chamber and greenhouse assays.

  • Data analysis, including preparation of graphs and reports, and entry into the ELN system.

  • General lab and greenhouse maintenance.

  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Experience in troubleshooting experiments.

  • Assure safe work practices are used.


Degree of Scope:
JOB LEVEL - Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
JOB COMPLEXITY - Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
SUPERVISION - Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Typical Experience/Education Guidelines:
MS in biology, plant sciences, microbiology or biochemistry or BS with 2+ years of post-graduate laboratory experience. Should have experience in propagation of plants, sterile technique, image and data analysis and good computer skills. Experience in molecular biology or high-throughput screening is an additional positive attribute.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
